These speakers are made from old Design Acoustics boxes. They use the 8" Audax HP210Z2 woofers aimed toward the bottom plate, the L14RC 5" midrange, and the Hiquphon OW-1 3/4" tweeter. I was able to get two of the three "rejected" M1 plate amps that I bought working and used the crossover mods shown in the diagram below. These speakers are incredibly clear and "natural". Choral music, loud rock, anything just sounds very accurate and listenable, without causing any fatigue from distortion or coloration. The 8-pole filter total tames the aluminum cone in the midrange, and the drivers sound very well integrated. I haven't had the chance to compare them to other speakers, but I suspect they will hold their own against some very expensive systems, except for cosmetics. Actually, they sound good enough that I haven't been all that motivated to finish off my main speakers. The total cost per speaker was about $200, including power amps!
